Maastricht Centre for Citizenship, Migration and Development

Centre profile

The Maastricht Centre for Citizenship, Migration and Development (MACIMIDE) was set up in 2013 at Maastricht University as an inter-faculty research platform aiming to foster research collaboration on issues of cross-border mobility, citizenship, transnationalism, migration and development and to bridge between the UM research community and the wider academic and professional world.

MACIMIDE combines various research lines across different Faculties of Maastricht University to contribute to a better understanding of the dynamics and consequences of transnational migration and mobility in a European and global context. It is set up by a research group in which scholars participate from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences, the Faculty of Law as well as the School of Business and Economics. FASoS scholars participating are members of the research programmes Globalisation, Transnationalism and Development; Arts, Media and Culture; Politics and Culture in Europe, as well as the Centre for Gender and Diversity.

In 2014 MACIMIDE launched a number of new PhD and Postdoc projects. For the projects at FASoS, matching funding was provided by FASoS and by Statistics Netherlands (CBS).
