Centre profile

The Maastricht Centre for European Governance (MCEG) aims to further develop the interaction between different UM faculties in teaching and research on the EU and strengthen links with local and regional partners in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. It also aims to reach out to civil society and contribute to the further development of innovative teaching tools in the field of European Studies at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels. The centre’s output includes interdisciplinary publications involving both the UM and external partners, a lecture series for students and civil society, a book series on European administrative governance and increased use of innovative teaching methods to strengthen the European dimension of the UM PhD training programme (which is organised in Brussels and aimed at professionals engaging in doctoral research). The various initiatives further contribute to the UM’s reputation as a multi- and interdisciplinary centre of EU expertise and innovative teaching. It also contributes to greater contact between members of academia and civil society and to closer transnational cooperation among the various partners in the regional cluster.

As of 2016 this centre is part of CERiM.
